The Direct Path to Seeing Clearly
By now, after having read Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of this series, something should be clear. The insight I’ve been pointing to is not new. It has been described by Jesus, by Eastern traditions, and by wisdom teachings across cultures:
What you are looking for is not outside you.
It is not something you become.
It is something you begin to recognize.
And yet, for most people, that recognition remains unstable. It comes and goes. Or it stays conceptual.
Which brings us to the only question that really matters: How do you actually live this?
Why Most Approaches Fall Short
Many people have already tried something.
Meditation apps.
Books.
Retreats.
Talks.
And while these can be helpful, they often lead to the same place:
moments of calm
temporary clarity
useful insights
But not a lasting shift.
Why? Because they tend to emphasize:
relaxation instead of recognition
ideas instead of direct investigation
isolated practice instead of real-life application
So the core confusion remains.
What’s Actually Required
If the issue is misidentification, then the process has to address three things:
Stabilizing attention
Seeing clearly
Living from that clarity
Miss any one of these, and the result doesn’t hold.
1) Stabilizing Attention
Before anything deeper can be seen, attention has to settle. Otherwise:
thoughts move too quickly
reactions take over
awareness is constantly pulled outward
This is where meditation matters. Not as an end in itself. But as preparation.
The ability to sit, to notice, and to return creates the conditions for clarity.
2) Seeing Clearly
This is the turning point. Not observing thoughts. Not becoming more mindful. But asking, directly: What is aware of this experience?
And not answering conceptually. Looking. Again and again.
Until it becomes obvious that:
thoughts are known
sensations are known
emotions are known
But what knows them… is not those things.
This is not something you believe. It’s something you recognize.
3) Living From That Clarity
This is where it either becomes real… or fades. Because insight alone is not enough. It has to be brought into:
conversations
decisions
emotional reactions
daily patterns
Not later. In real time.
In the middle of life.
This is where most approaches break down. They separate practice from living. And the old patterns quietly return.
A Simple Structure
If you were to approach this directly, it would look something like this:
Daily sitting to stabilize attention
Regular inquiry into what is aware
Real-time application during moments of reaction
Not complicated. But not passive either. It requires participation.
What Changes Over Time
With consistent practice, something begins to shift. Not dramatically at first. But noticeably.
thoughts are still there, but less convincing
emotions still arise, but move more freely
reactions are seen sooner
And gradually:
there is more space
more clarity
less unnecessary struggle
Not because life becomes perfect. But because identification loosens.
An Invitation to Test This
At this point, there are only two options. You can agree with what’s been said. Or you can test it.
If you test it, even in a small way, you’ll begin to see whether this is real.
Not in theory.
In your own experience.
A Guided Path
For those who want structure and support in this process, I offer a guided, step-by-step training: The Direct Path to Living ALOHA
It’s designed to move through these stages intentionally:
building attention
developing clarity
applying it in daily life
Not as philosophy. But as lived practice.
What Makes It Different
The emphasis is simple: Not on adopting beliefs. Not on collecting insights. But on seeing clearly… and living from that.
Participants are guided to:
train attention
question identity
apply awareness in real situations
So that what is recognized does not remain occasional. But becomes familiar.
The Only Thing That Matters
Ultimately, none of this depends on agreeing with any of it. It depends on whether you are willing to look.
Because if what these teachings point to is true, then it is already present. And available.
Not someday.
Now.
Where to Begin
If you’re curious, begin simply.
Pause.
And ask: What is aware of this moment?
Not to get an answer.
But to see.
Everything else follows from there.

All that is offered in these articles and in my course is rooted in ALOHA, a living expression born of the Kanaka Maoli, the Indigenous people of Hawaiʻi. I acknowledge that Hawaiʻi is ʻāina ʻōiwi (ancestral land) and that the Hawaiian people continue to carry, protect, and evolve their wisdom despite histories of displacement. I commit to honoring their language, culture, and sovereignty, and to walking my practice with humility, gratitude, and kuleana.
